Gentlemen — Mayfair, London

Men's cutting and beard work in Mayfair.

A cut, a beard and twenty quiet minutes — booked, not queued for.

Cutting

Scissor work, clipper work and everything between, cut to the head shape rather than to a number on a guard. A fade is judged from three feet away with the client sitting upright, not from six inches away with their chin on their chest.

Grey is worked with rather than around. A cut that acknowledges a receding corner looks considerably better than one that pretends the corner is not there.

Beard and finish

The beard is shaped to the jaw and to the cut, in the same appointment, because a good cut above a neglected neckline reads as neither. Lines are set where they will still be right in a fortnight rather than where they look sharpest today.

Every sitting finishes with a wash and a proper finish. Nobody leaves with clippings down their collar.

Appointment only, and why

The Gentlemen's Suite runs on the atelier's diary, which means no queue, no waiting bench and no rushing the last ten minutes because somebody is standing by the door.

Early and late sittings are available around a working day — say what you need when you book.

Questions we are asked

Do I need an appointment?
Yes. The atelier is appointment only, which is what keeps the chair yours for the whole sitting and removes the queue entirely.
Can I have my beard done at the same time as my cut?
Yes, and it is the better way — the beard is shaped to the cut rather than to itself.
Do you do fades?
Yes, cut to the head shape and checked upright from a distance rather than close up.
Are there early or late appointments?
Sittings can usually be arranged around a working day. Say what you need when you book.
